Aaron started his apprenticeship in the mid-1990s at a busy workshop in Dunedin that specialised in classic cars. After completing his training, he and his wife Toni moved to Sydney, where he continued working on all car makes and models, including Australia's beloved Holdens. A few years later, Aaron, Toni, and their friends Ken and Sarah opened their own workshop, "Gateway Automotive." Their combined skills helped the business win several small business awards. After ten years in Australia, Aaron and Toni decided to return to New Zealand in 2007 with their two children. After settling in Wanaka, Aaron worked for a respected local mechanic for a few years before deciding to start another business.

Action Automotive began in 2010 as a small husband-and-wife team on Anderson Road. Nasir Haig joined in 2013, and over the next seven years, the team expanded. In 2020, they opened a purpose-built workshop on Enterprise Drive. By 2024, they partnered with Century/Yuasa batteries to launch "BatteryZone," enhancing their services and providing customers with a more comprehensive experience.’

Kate Prosser takes care of office administration and accounts, while Toni Collins handles business management and HR.
